Blu-ray Propels Rental Revenue to New Highs

Blu-ray Movies According to Rentrak, a dramatic increase in Blu-ray rentals has spurred an overall increase in rental revenue despite tough economic times. Third quarter rental revenue for Blu-ray was up 44.5% over this same period last year, which has, in turn, increased overall rental revenue by 10% for the third quarter.

    Luc Besson is probably best known for 'The Fifth Element', but arguably his best accomplishment is 'Leon: The Professional', which gets released today on Blu-ray. The relationship between Jean Reno and Natalie Portman is genuine, and Gary Oldman is the ultimate bad guy. If the idea of a 12 year-old girl hitting on an older man makes you cringe, be sure to stick with the US theatrical presentation which was toned down for American audiences. The Blu-ray presentation of this film is simply astounding.

  • Warner Launches DVD2BLU Program

    According to blu-ray.com news, Warner will be allowing people to trade in their Warner DVD's for an upgrade to blu-ray for as little as $7.95. Owners will be required to go to the Warner site and figure out which blu-ray upgrade they want. They will then send in their DVD for proof of ownership and Warner will send back a blu-ray copy once the original DVD is received.
